Will today's leading foundational LLMs be the DEC,Cray, Wang, Radio Shack, Sun, Data General, Compaq, etc of tomorrow ? GenAI LLMs want to be the operating systems of today and tomorrow. It's possible they will be the CP/M, DOS, Windows, Unix of the future. But more likely GenAI and the companies that are donating now, will be the TCP/IP of the future. A layer that is hidden from users as new technologies are invented and released I'm a big believer that World View, the understanding of how the world actually works, is the next big step. And, it's going to be hard for legacy foundational models to transition end users from what they see today, to whatever comes next. The AI Innovator's Dilemma. I'm also not sold that the current leaders can afford to make it all work. They are already burning through cash, and no one really knows what "next " looks like, or costs. Agree ? Disagree ?
