Ledger reportedly just suffered from another data breach. Payment processor Global-e, which handles payment processing and international e-commerce services for Ledger's online store, detected unauthorized access to its systems. In 2020, they already suffered a major data breach in which more than 1 million email addresses and 100s of thousands of customers' personal information, such as their addresses, were leaked. We are living in the digital age, where more and more of this is going to happen. Meanwhile, governments, regulators, etc. require online shops and service providers to collect more and more sensitive data of customers and users for the sake of security. This puts people in harm's way. Data leaks may lead to those affected being actively targeted by scammers, wrench attacks, and them becoming targets via other attack vectors. At some point we have got to ask ourselves, whether the data collection mania is achieving its stated goals or if the opposite is true and more people are being hurt by it?(Dr. Jan Wüstenfeld)
