Google's Gemini development lead was blown away by Cursor's programming capabilities. Cloud Code accomplished what Google engineers did in the past year in just one hour. Of course, there's some exaggeration here. But the improvement of AI in coding is truly astonishing. IT companies are already significantly reducing the hiring of junior engineers. Interestingly, Google doesn’t prohibit the use of Claude Code tools, but they can’t be used on their own product code—only on open-source project code.
