Talking about price and stopping buybacks is fundamentally the wrong starting point.
First of all, the true purpose of buybacks is to reduce circulating supply, which doesn’t 100% equal 'pumping' the price, because what really affects price is market supply and demand as well as the project’s fundamentals.
So buybacks are definitely beneficial for token holders. You can think of it as a periodic deflation model, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the token price will go up.
Buybacks should continue without controversy, rather than getting hung up on the cost of buybacks. Of course, optimizing the buyback strategy is feasible, like increasing buybacks when prices are relatively low and reducing buybacks when the market is overheated.
