Coinbase execs made it clear: the CLARITY Act (Digital Asset Regulatory Clarity Act) is about to pass.
For the entire crypto space, this is a key step from 'wild growth' to becoming part of the 'mainstream financial system.'
We’ve talked about the CLARITY Act before, and its core benefits for the crypto space can be summarized in at least four aspects:
1️⃣ Regulatory boundaries will be 'written into law' instead of relying on enforcement discretion:
The act will clarify the division of regulatory responsibilities between the SEC and CFTC for crypto assets, ending the long-standing gray area of 'enforcement after the fact + vague definitions.'
This means project teams, exchanges, and investment institutions can finally make long-term plans within the rules, instead of gambling on regulatory attitudes.
2️⃣ The biggest barrier for institutional funds entering the market will be removed:
For traditional financial institutions, the risk has never been volatility but legal uncertainty.
Once asset classification, compliance pathways, and regulatory jurisdiction are clarified,
the compliance costs and psychological barriers for pensions, asset management firms, insurance funds, and family offices entering the crypto market will significantly decrease, systematically expanding the capital pool.
3️⃣ Market structure will shift from 'high-volatility speculation' to 'long-term value discovery':
A clear, stable, and predictable regulatory environment helps to:
- Reduce sudden policy risks
- Compress extreme volatility driven purely by sentiment
- Bring fundamentals, cash flow, and utility value back to the core of pricing
This is especially important for BTC, ETH, and assets with real applications and network effects.
4️⃣ The U.S. regulatory framework will become the global 'de facto standard':
Against the backdrop of accelerating global regulatory coordination, once the CLARITY Act is implemented, it’s likely to become a template for other countries and regions to reference or even replicate.
This means: compliance ≠ tightening, but rather a prerequisite for accelerating global adoption.
In one sentence: The significance of the CLARITY Act isn’t that 'regulation is coming,' but that, for the first time, the crypto industry is being allowed to be taken seriously as a long-term industry.
