While everyone is still celebrating New Year's and enjoying global travel, an interesting x402 project went live a few days ago.
@x402wall
The concept isn’t new—it’s basically a reboot of 'the wall' from about 20 years ago. For those who haven’t played with it before, here’s a quick explainer: there’s a wall with 1 million pixels, and you can buy one pixel for 1u. You can use it to advertise your project, post declarations, or whatever you want. Right now, I’ve seen people putting up QR codes, profile pictures, and even political statements. Your 1u is paid via @PayAINetwork in x402 tokens, and 30% of it is used to buy back and burn WALL.
Of course, the initial cost to purchase a blank pixel is 1u, but you can resell it later at any price you want. So far, around 5,000 squares have been sold. If all the squares are sold, that would mean a total buy volume of 300,000u. Currently, WALL’s FDV is around 300,000.
Naturally, the risk is that the project doesn’t take off and no one buys pixels, which would make WALL worthless.
Just like the development of all new technologies, new applications often start by repackaging old ideas before truly native innovations emerge. The internet, mobile internet, and web3 have all gone through this process, and x402 will go through it too.
2026 feels like it could be the year when x402 applications start gaining momentum.
