According to @elonmusk - who’s looked at America’s books - the fraud is in the trillions - 20% of government spending = $1.5T per year. @friedberg claims the other side will do nothing because the number is SO LARGE it’s like looking into an abyss. Why would Friedberg say that: Because $1T is so large the human brain isn’t wired to comprehend it - which is why governments waste it. Here are ways to try and comprehend $1T: $1T is roughly: The entire annual economy of Spain or Australia and more than MA’s entire GDP for nearly 2 years. $1T pennies: Would cover every square inch of Manhattan several feet deep. If you spent $1M per day, it would take 2,740 years to spend $1T. 1 trillion seconds = 31,709 YEARS. And we are operating at a $2T deficit each year! Now think about $38T in debt. Friedberg is right: career politicians will employ the standard Washington approach:(John E Deaton)
