Binance customer service reveals a new type of fraud routine: users self-directed and staged, fabricated 'executive fraud' in an attempt to pressure the platform
BlockBeats News: On December 31st, as the end of the year approaches, fraudulent activities are frequent. Binance customer service representative Sisi disclosed a new type of scam case today, reminding users to be vigilant and pay attention to fund security. It is reported that a user complained to customer service that they were scammed by a "Binance executive" who promised to help them solve the problem but lost contact after receiving payment. Binance found during the investigation that there are many doubts about the incident:
·The chat content is extremely rudimentary: the so-called Telegram chat with the 'executive' only has one page, and the other party has not verified any details, but the user directly transfers money under 'high trust'.
·Abnormal transfer record: The "scam address" initially provided by the user is actually the transfer initiation address, which is highly likely to be their own wallet; The relevant transfer records also come from a certain guarantee platform.
·Key chat records missing: The user claimed that the chat records have been deleted due to the other party activating privacy mode, and only screenshots of "post questioning" can be provided.
·Coexistence of real and fake executive accounts: After verification, the account questioned by the user is indeed a real Binance executive account, and the executive himself is not aware of it, and the account has not been stolen.
After comprehensive verification by multiple parties, Binance has confirmed that this is a self-directed and self staged scam targeting Binance and its users. The user created the illusion of "executive fraud" by forging chat and transfer records, and then used real executive accounts to create confusion, attempting to induce customer service to respond and pressure the platform with public opinion.
Binance stated that in the past, due to multiple concerns, similar cases were rarely disclosed to the public, but this also to some extent facilitated illegal behavior. The decision to make it public this time is to remind users to prevent new types of fraud, and to sternly warn fraudsters and speculators: Binance will resolutely protect the rights and interests of users, hold accountable those who engage in fraud, deception, and framing the platform in accordance with the law, and will never tolerate it.
Binance once again emphasizes that it will not proactively contact users through unofficial channels, nor will it require users to transfer funds or pay any fees to designated addresses.
