There's a phenomenon in Qidian Reading called the "overthinking tag" ️: it refers to when the protagonist unintentionally does something, and the supporting characters overanalyze it, then act in ways to cater to the protagonist. In Web3, this kind of overthinking = a chain of suspicion . For example, if CZ likes a post, retweets something, or posts an emoji, people immediately start overanalyzing his "true intentions" and respond by buying, hyping, writing reports, or forming groups. Once these reactions leave traces in price or volume, it’s no longer just individual overthinking—it evolves into a "chain of suspicion." A's speculation becomes B's evidence, B's actions become C's further confirmation, and so on, layer by layer. The reason why people are so obsessed with guessing Binance listings isn’t because they’re naturally more superstitious, but because the system structure encourages this "overthinking arbitrage." In a market where attention is priced, a listing is more like a liquidity gate. Once the gate opens, trading depth, exposure, and narrative legitimacy all flow in at once. So instead of studying the token itself, people focus on "when the gate will open." And whether the gate will open is often triggered by ambiguous signals—like employees following certain accounts, large on-chain transfers, sector trends, sudden audits/KYC, or ecosystem teasers. None of these directly mean a listing, but they’re "insider-like" enough to get the market going. In Web3, fragmented information, weak penalties, and fast feedback make ambiguity the perfect fuel. Clear information is known by everyone at the same time, so profits are diluted. Ambiguous information makes everyone feel like "I might understand this earlier than others." This leads to a cycle where spreading, trading, and price movements create new "evidence," forming a self-reinforcing loop. So CZ here isn’t just a person—he’s a symbol of gatekeeping power and narrative legitimacy. Any action he takes is interpreted as "policy." Speculation turns into trading, trading turns into spreading, and spreading turns into evidence. This is how overthinking and the chain of suspicion merge in Web3.
