[Robbery of a Virtual Currency Exchange Store Involving 1 Billion Yen in Hong Kong Sheung Wan, 15 Arrested by Police]
Odaily Planet Daily News: On the morning of December 18, a Japanese company dealing in virtual currency and luxury handbags was robbed in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong, resulting in a loss of 1 billion yen, approximately 50 million Hong Kong dollars. Four knife-wielding robbers stole four suitcases containing cash. The victim is a 39-year-old mainland Chinese man. Hong Kong police have arrested 15 suspects, including the mastermind of the case, some of whom have triad backgrounds. Seven individuals have already been formally charged with conspiracy to commit robbery. The victim originally planned to exchange the company's revenue from Japan into virtual currency and Hong Kong dollars through a Hong Kong exchange store. The whereabouts of the stolen money are still under investigation.
