[Russia's Summer Hashrate Accounts for Over 16% Globally, Mining Activities May Strengthen the Ruble Exchange Rate]
BlockBeats News, December 22, Elvira Nabiullina, Governor of the Central Bank of Russia, recently stated that cryptocurrency mining might be an additional factor contributing to the strengthening of the ruble exchange rate, though its specific impact is difficult to quantify. Previously, Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Presidential Executive Office, pointed out that underestimating the capital flows related to mining and cryptocurrencies is a reason for inaccurate ruble exchange rate forecasts, which has already affected the foreign exchange market. The Central Bank of Russia is evaluating the crypto and mining markets and considering incorporating this data into the balance of payments.
Additionally, according to statistics from the Russian Industrial Mining Association (IMA), Russia ranks second in the global mining sector, accounting for over 16% of global hashrate during the summer.
