[Guizhou Qiannan Police Uncover 'Virtual Currency' Online Pyramid Scheme Case] Foresight News reports that, according to the Cybersecurity Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, Guizhou Qiannan police have uncovered an online pyramid scheme involving 'virtual currency.' During their investigation, law enforcement discovered individuals setting up a certain virtual currency online and deliberately inflating its price, using a 'recruitment' method to carry out pyramid scheme activities. The pyramid scheme organization promoted the slogan 'Everything valuable in the world can be tokenized,' built a virtual currency platform for anonymous transactions, and established various hierarchical levels. Members participated in the pyramid scheme by staking virtual currency through deposits and earned profits by recruiting new members to receive direct referral rewards. Suspects Jia Moufu, Liu Mou, Duan Mouyao, and others created a certain virtual currency online, using the promise of high returns from purchasing the currency as bait. They deliberately inflated the currency's price and divided 'identity levels' based on the amount of money members invested. As members advanced through the levels, their earnings increased, encouraging 'old members' to continue recruiting 'new members' to attract more participants into the pyramid scheme, thereby achieving multi-level profit distribution.
