[Trump Sues BBC Over Misleading Documentary Edits, Seeks at Least $10 Billion in Damages]
BlockBeats News, December 16, according to Bloomberg, U.S. President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against the BBC over misleading edits in a documentary released last year, seeking damages of at least $10 billion. Trump claims that the edits created the false impression that he directly called for violence during a speech prior to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by his supporters.
The lawsuit against the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) was filed on Monday in federal court in Miami. The complaint includes two allegations: one for defamation and another accusing the BBC of violating Florida's trade practices law.
Trump is seeking at least $5 billion in damages for each allegation, along with compensation for other related costs.
