[Professional Angel Investor Falls Victim to Phishing Scam, Losing $100,000 in Cryptocurrency] According to a report by Lianhe Zaobao, a professional angel investor who claimed to have evaluated countless Web3 projects and was well-versed in online scams fell victim to a phishing scam. While testing an online game, he accidentally downloaded a game launcher containing malware, resulting in the theft of at least $100,000 worth of cryptocurrency assets from his digital wallet. The angel investor, Xu Xianlong, shared his experience in an interview, warning the public to stay vigilant, avoid downloading software from unknown sources, and never share their two-factor authentication information with others. Xu Xianlong stated that he has been following Web3 since 2017 and was an early investor in the blockchain platform Polygon. On December 5, while browsing the messaging platform Telegram, he came across a post in a group about testing a game project called 'MetaToy.' A user named Shanni then contacted him, claiming to be the 'co-founder of the Meta team.' Xu Xianlong said he followed the instructions to download the game launcher, and before he noticed anything unusual, the malware had already stolen data from his cryptocurrency wallet. For safety reasons, Xu Xianlong even reinstalled the Microsoft operating system afterward, but the malware remained in the system. He revealed that he reported the incident to the police on Friday (12th).
