Nvidia releases new open-source AI model
Odaily Planet Daily News: Nvidia (NVDA. O) has released a series of new open-source artificial intelligence models and stated that these models will be faster, cheaper, and smarter than its previous products. Nvidia is primarily known for providing chips, which OpenAI and other companies use to train their closed source models and profit from. However, Nvidia also provides a large number of its own models, covering various fields from physical simulation to autonomous vehicle. These models are provided to researchers or other companies in the form of open source software. For example, companies such as Palantir Technologies have integrated Nvidia's models into their products. Nvidia announced on Monday the third generation "Nemotron" big language model, mainly aimed at tasks such as writing and programming. The smallest model, Nemotron 3 Nano, was released on the same day, and two larger versions will be released in the first half of 2026. Meanwhile, there are reports that Meta Platforms (META. O) is considering transitioning to closed source models, making Nvidia one of the leading open-source model providers in the United States. (Golden Ten)
