With #Polymarket and #kalshi closing substantial funding rounds, and with platforms such as Google Finance, CNBC, and CNN now incorporating their data, prediction markets are rapidly entering the mainstream. Weekly trading volume has surged from roughly $390m about six months ago to $3.8bn today, an annualised growth rate of around 2,000%. It is therefore unsurprising that 2025 is already being framed as “year one” for prediction markets.
