Before the Fusaka upgrade, Blob fees were already this low, and after the upgrade, they're still just as low. So, wasn't this Fusaka upgrade basically pointless?
This cycle, Ethereum sacrificed two major cash flow sources—DA and validator income—to subsidize L2 development. And what did it end up incubating? Base, this cursed spawn, which is now crazily draining the Ethereum ecosystem to subsidize Coinbase shareholders.
As a result, Vitalik proposed the L1 Renaissance. But the content of this Fusaka upgrade still reinforces the Rollup-Centric approach. The Glamsterdam upgrade, which focuses on optimizing the mainnet, won’t be deployed and activated until H1 2026.
Technical narratives fall into two categories: one is the unfalsifiable "technical theology" narrative, and the other is the falsifiable/verifiable "technical product" narrative.
BTC and ZEC chose the technical theology narrative, while Solana opted for the technical product narrative.
Ethereum is super conflicted. On one hand, it embraces the philosophy of programmability, but on the other hand, Vitalik has a strong desire to achieve sainthood by building a technical religion.
This has left Ethereum supporters in a state of mental split—they can’t fully enjoy the addictive nature of technical religion, yet they’re constantly anxious about the PMF (Product-Market Fit) of technical philosophy.
