The co-founder of Aevo said he wasted eight years in the crypto industry.
If I calculate, I’m also about to hit five years in crypto myself.
But even as we’re about to enter a bear market, I still feel that the industry I’ve stuck with is not meaningless.
The significance of crypto to this world shouldn’t be overshadowed by some unsuccessful narratives along the way. Failures are just attempts on the path to success, and among these attempts, there will definitely be parts of success that make the world better.
Nic Carter, co-founder of Castle Island Ventures, quickly wrote an article titled *‘I Don’t Regret Spending Eight Years in Crypto’*.
In it, he mentioned the significance of crypto to the world: making monetary systems more robust, encoding business logic with smart contracts, making digital property rights real, improving capital market efficiency, and expanding global financial inclusion.
Bitcoin was born to answer one question: *‘Can we actually create a monetary system that doesn’t rely on any centralized institution?’*
It feels far away or unrealistic for now, and maybe we won’t see it in our lifetime. But I’ve always believed that a monetary system independent of any centralized institution is the ultimate form of currency for human society.
When material productivity and technology develop to an extreme degree, perhaps one day in the future we can truly have a currency that doesn’t require trust in anyone. Right now, we’re just in the chaotic phase of its development.
For those who share the same belief, all you need to do is hold on:
Stay low-key, keep building, don’t waste energy.
Wait another ten years, and see where it goes.
