Got a new iPhone? Every time I switch phones, I follow a fixed routine—not installing apps, but setting up security first. Sharing my process here, takes just 20 minutes. Password Layer Use a custom alphanumeric password (6-digit PIN is too weak) Enable Face ID with "Attention Awareness" (can't unlock if eyes are closed/asleep) 10 failed password attempts → auto erase data ️ Anti-Theft Layer Enable "Device Theft Protection" + "Lockdown Mode" Turn on "Find My iPhone" + Find My network + Send Last Location Lock Screen Privacy Layer Disable on lock screen: Control Center / Siri / USB accessories Notification previews → "When Unlocked" or "Never" Set a PIN for your SIM card (prevents it from being removed and used in another phone) Apple Account Layer (Most Important) Enable two-factor authentication + bind hardware security keys (YubiKey, at least two) Turn on "iCloud Advanced Data Protection" Set up recovery contacts/recovery key Disable iCloud web access (blocks remote entry points) It doesn’t matter how much your iPhone is worth—what’s inside is what truly matters.
