[Pakistan and Binance Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Tokenize $2 Billion in State-Owned Assets]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, citing Reuters, Pakistan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Binance to explore the tokenization of up to $2 billion worth of government bonds, treasury bills, and commodity reserves.
The Pakistani Ministry of Finance stated that this collaboration is an important step for the country to introduce blockchain technology, enhance asset liquidity, and attract foreign investment. It may also pave the way for more state-owned physical assets to be brought on-chain.
This move comes as Pakistan accelerates the rollout of a formal crypto regulatory framework and explores ways to distribute government assets on-chain. Just a day earlier, Bilal Bin Saqib, Chairman of Pakistan's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), revealed in an interview that the country plans to accelerate cryptocurrency adoption, develop Bitcoin mining, and issue a national stablecoin.
