Just saw that Football Fun is launching on Legion, coinciding with another project, Almanak, which launched on Legion recently at a $90m valuation and then dropped 80% after going live...
Football Fun is kind of like a mix between a sports-themed Prediction Market and Fantasy Football. Users buy Shares of real football players, and the better the players perform, the higher the value of their Shares. It shares some similarities with pure Prediction Market platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi, where users use funds to express their probability judgments about future events (player/team performance).
At its peak, Football Fun once accounted for over 20% of the Prediction Market's daily trading volume, but unfortunately, it was short-lived. Currently, Football Fun's daily trading volume is less than $1 million, and most of the time, it's below $500k. On the bright side, there's still over $5 million in open positions, making it the fourth-largest player in the Prediction Market space.
Although it received investment from Base Eco Fund recently, it barely brought any user growth... Regardless, with next year's World Cup being a major event, it's foreseeable that competition in sports Prediction Markets will be intense. Projects like this are relatively rare, so it's worth keeping an eye on.
