**[U.S. Accuses Canadian Man of Running Crypto Investment Scam on Discord, Involving Over $42 Million]**
Odaily Planet Daily News – U.S. federal prosecutors have accused Canadian citizen Nathan Gauvin of operating a fraudulent investment scheme on the Discord platform, claiming to raise funds for investments in traditional finance and crypto markets, with the actual amount raised exceeding $42 million. According to the indictment, most of the funds were used to pay withdrawals to previous investors, purchase luxury goods, and repay personal credit card debts. Additionally, Gauvin allegedly falsified documents to obtain approximately $800,000 in credit from a fintech company for personal consumption.
Investigations revealed that between May 2022 and October 2024, Gauvin and his associates directed investors to allocate funds to Gray Digital Capital Management Inc. and its product Gray Fund, fabricating their professional qualifications, performance records, and asset scale. They even presented investors with forged statements and claimed the fund's return rate was as high as 4,384%. Gauvin was arrested in the UK on Wednesday. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has also filed securities fraud charges, noting that Gauvin continued to submit false documents to the SEC during the regulatory investigation.
