**[Norwegian Central Bank Shelves Central Bank Digital Currency Plan]**
According to Bloomberg, the Norwegian Central Bank believes there is currently no need to introduce a central bank digital currency (CBDC). The bank has spent years researching the necessity and form of issuance, and this conclusion marks the end of that study. On Wednesday, the Norwegian Central Bank stated that the country's payment system is "efficient and secure," and emergency arrangements are "reliable." Governor Ida Wolden Bache said that if it becomes necessary to introduce a CBDC to maintain an efficient and secure payment system, they will be prepared and look forward to collaborating with the financial industry and other central banks. The Norwegian Central Bank also announced that it will release a CBDC research report and follow-up work plan in the first quarter of next year. While not ruling out the possibility of issuance in the future, the bank will continue to study tokenization and other forms of digital currency while monitoring international developments.
