[Generative Bionics Robot Project Secures $80 Million in Funding, with Tether Among Investors] Odaily Planet Daily News: Tether participated in the €70 million (approximately $80 million) funding round for Italy-based Generative Bionics. The company, a spin-off from the Italian Institute of Technology, focuses on developing 'physical AI' humanoid robots designed to operate in high-risk or high-load industrial environments. These robots aim to perform tasks such as lifting, dragging, and repetitive operations that traditional robotic arms struggle to handle. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that this investment marks an important step in the company's strategy to expand into 'digital and physical infrastructure,' aiming to reduce reliance on centralized systems of large tech companies and support technological innovations that enhance societal resilience. In recent years, Tether has invested in several internal and external AI projects and has made multiple investments in the Bitcoin mining sector. A few weeks prior to this announcement, S&P Global had downgraded the stability rating of USDT, citing increased exposure to Bitcoin and other less transparent assets. Tether responded by criticizing the rating system as 'outdated.' Generative Bionics stated that its first industrial deployments are expected to roll out in early 2026, targeting industries such as manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and retail. Additionally, the Financial Times previously reported that Tether is also in talks to invest in German startup Neura Robotics, which is valued at approximately $10 billion. (The Block)
