[Hedge Funds: Abu Dhabi Has Embarked on the Path to Becoming a Financial Hub, Flywheel Effect Taking Shape] Alan Howard's hedge fund, Brevan Howard, currently employs 150 staff in Abu Dhabi and is committed to staying there long-term. It is currently the largest institution operating in Abu Dhabi. He stated that this Gulf city is rapidly rising and is poised to rival Western financial centers like London and New York, becoming a global financial hub. 'A few years ago, I thought it would become the "third pole" alongside New York and London. Now, I believe it is fully on that trajectory,' he explained. As more asset management firms and banks establish themselves in the city, the trading volume of various assets continues to grow, creating a flywheel effect. For every fund manager working here, 3 to 4 professionals from service institutions are drawn to work here as well. Nevertheless, much of the infrastructure and core talent supporting the hedge fund industry remains concentrated in traditional centers. However, Howard believes that the proportion of funds managed in Abu Dhabi will continue to increase due to factors such as a business-friendly regulatory environment, advantages in cross-regional trading, and the UAE's substantial capital pool. These elements are driving Abu Dhabi and Dubai to jointly transform into global financial powerhouses.
