[Upbit: Approximately $1.77 million in damaged assets frozen, remaining stolen funds being tracked]
According to FN News, Dunamu, the operating company of South Korean crypto exchange Upbit, announced that it has frozen damaged assets worth 2.6 billion KRW (approximately $1.77 million). Upbit is advancing follow-up procedures to safely recover the frozen assets. Currently, Upbit is utilizing its independently developed On-chain Tracking Service (OTS) to trace the paths of virtual assets transferred externally. At the same time, it is actively collaborating with global crypto exchanges to block further transfers of the assets.
An Upbit representative stated: "Although all customer-damaged assets have been fully compensated using Upbit's own funds, we remain relentless in tracking and freezing assets to prevent them from falling into the hands of attackers. To build a secure crypto asset ecosystem, we earnestly request active cooperation from global crypto exchanges and the blockchain community."
On another note, after replacing all virtual asset wallets and strengthening security measures, Upbit resumed all virtual asset deposit and withdrawal services on the 6th.
Previously, Upbit confirmed losses exceeding 44.5 billion KRW due to a hot wallet theft, and the CEO issued an apology letter.
