The US has a $250 billion trade deficit with the European Union. The EU has been taking advantage of the goodwill of the United States since the end of WW2. A huge part of that is in pharmaceutical patents and IP rights. Europe gets vastly cheaper drug prices, with Americans paying 3x more for name-brand drugs that are still under patent protection. The EU just allows their companies to make cheap generics, forcing Americans to carry the R&D costs and pay for it all. Once again, the socialists in the EU expect the USA to pay for everything while they get a free ride.
