[Meta Delays Release of "Phoenix" MR Glasses to 2027]
Jin10 News, December 6 — Meta has decided to postpone the release of its next-generation MR glasses, "Phoenix," from the originally scheduled second half of 2026 to the first half of 2027. Reality Labs Foundation Vice President Maher Saba confirmed this adjustment in an internal memo to employees on Thursday.
In another memo, Metaverse heads Gabriel Aul and Ryan Cairns stated that delaying the release would give them more time to refine the details. They emphasized, "The core user experience will undergo significant changes, and we will not compromise on delivering a polished and reliable experience." Meta declined to comment on the matter.
In addition to "Phoenix," Saba also revealed that Meta plans to launch a limited-edition wearable device called "Malibu 2" in 2026. Furthermore, the company is working on developing the next-generation Quest device. Aul and Cairns noted that this product will focus on immersive gaming experiences, achieve major performance upgrades, and significantly improve unit economics.
