Am away so catching up on all things @ArtBasel Miami...
@beeple As expected moved the art ball so far in front that it seems to have stolen the entire show. AI driven robot dogs with lifelike masks of the Tech overlord and legendary arts of the past (plus Beeple who is from the future), making a comment on how art and culture has become at the mercy of the tech algorithm. that take pictures and poop art, some of which are minted as NFTs if chosen by the AI. Utter genius and further proves NFTs are shit.
@XCOPYART always changes the game. The free bubbles mint on @Shape_L2 has allowed 50,000+ people to be part of the XCOPY world. The cleverness of the bubbles that pop over time "NFTs are a bubble, it will burst !" leaving only one NFT to a lucky owner in 10 years is a v cool idea and helps set people's time horizons on art and assures long term attention and a secondary prediction market of sorts. Oh, and then a Laundromat physical installation "it's all money laundering!". Bloody clever. The man is still at the top of his game and climbing to new heights.
@jackbutcher 's receipts were also super clever (as Jacks work always is). A simple idea that also offers insights in to what is art, how it is sold, how weird crypto UX is and also how everything objects are iconic and can have memetic value. Well played. Broke new ground... again
I thought @joepease also stood out as proudly digital while many other artists chose canvas formats for the TradArt crowd. It look like it showed what digital art can do in its native format... stop people in their tracks. Joe's work is so multi-layered in both design and meaning. It's also utterly unique.
I'm sure there were lots of other highlights but these were the one that stood out to me as proudly digital, proudly crypto native and also made a statement about the future of art and technology.
A side note - WTF is this trend in pricing stuff in dollars?
We fought for our money revolution.
We fought for our art revolution.
We should not be pandering to TradArt potential buyers of our art, because they don't exist and we don't care.
It's our crypto art, our currency and our rebellion and everyone else can just fuck off if they don't want our rules.(Raoul Pal)
