The x402 protocol, as the grand narrative of AI agent payments, has become a highly sought after commodity among all parties. Well, while everyone is still researching AI Agent automatic card swiping to purchase API services, @ openmind.agi has already planned to enable embodied robots equipped with NVIDIA Jetson Thor chips to navigate autonomously in the real world while completing real-time payments through the x402 protocol. Why is this matter worth paying attention to? OpenMind, as a leading project in the Robotics field, has received over $20M in investments from Pantera Capital, Coinbase Venture, Amber Group, and others, focusing on building decentralized intelligent infrastructure for robots. It should be noted that its BrainPack system is driven by NVIDIA Jetson Thor chips, providing next-generation autonomous capabilities for humanoid and quadruped robots to navigate, recognize scenes, and handle complex tasks in real urban environments. In this deep collaboration with Circle, OpenMind's goal is one: to enable robots to complete hundreds or thousands of real-time, reliable, cross chain payments per second while performing physical tasks. After reviewing their Github design plan, we did make some improvements and adjustments to the x402 protocol, such as strengthening payment security mechanisms to prevent payment fraud during task execution and ensuring fund confirmation is completed within 2 seconds; At the same time, a batch processing solution will be launched to enable robots to perform millions of micro payments without waiting for blockchain confirmation each time through Gateway off chain technology, and finally settle them uniformly. Of course, before the widespread adoption of virtual AI agent application x402, real-world robots already have such convenient payment capabilities. Imagine: A delivery robot performs tasks on the street, purchasing real-time map navigation APIs, weather data, and traffic condition services; A patrol robot autonomously pays cloud computing power to process visual recognition; Multiple robots automatically settle collaboration service fees through the x402 protocol ... Compared with the technical difficulty of virtual AI agent payment, this undoubtedly adds another level of challenge. Payment between virtual agents can tolerate some delay, but robots performing physical tasks must be "real-time, reliable, and high-frequency". The key is: The OpenMind exploration of the x402 payment protocol was also publicly named by the Circle CEO. In addition, to some extent, it can be considered as receiving some kind of support from Nvidia, coupled with the fact that the partner Unitree Yushu Robot is also preparing to be launched at the end of the year. At that time, we will have a clear understanding of the value that x402 payment protocol will play in the field of Robotics.
