The truly effective points for a trendline must meet two conditions:
1. It marks the starting point of trend continuation: HL in an uptrend / LH in a downtrend, not just random points in a consolidation.
2. It touches a key structure once: for example, after retesting a support zone and then pushing to a new high / new low.
As long as these two conditions are met, the trendline will be very stable and can be used until the trend ends without any issues.
On the other hand, if the points you connect lack structural significance, the line you draw will only mislead you into thinking the trend is still intact.
To go further, the core of trendlines isn’t about “drawing them accurately,” but whether you can identify the true turning points of the trend.
Once you understand trend structures, drawing trendlines correctly will come naturally.
