[US CFTC: Spot Cryptocurrency Trading Now Available on CFTC-Registered Platforms] BlockBeats News, December 4 – Caroline D. Pham, Acting Chair of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), announced today that trading of listed spot cryptocurrency products will, for the first time, commence on federally regulated markets via CFTC-registered futures trading platforms. Today's announcement follows the recommendations of the President's Working Group on Financial Markets for digital assets and incorporates insights from stakeholders under the CFTC's 'Crypto Sprint' initiative, as well as collaborative efforts with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The 'Crypto Sprint' initiative has also launched a public consultation on all other recommendations related to the CFTC in the President's Working Group report on digital assets. Other aspects of the initiative include enabling tokenized collateral (including stablecoins) in derivatives markets and rulemaking to implement technical amendments to CFTC regulations on collateral, margin, clearing, settlement, reporting, and recordkeeping. These amendments aim to facilitate the use of blockchain technology and market infrastructure, including tokenization technology, in our markets.
