[Malaysia Establishes Joint Task Force to Combat 14,000 Illegal Bitcoin Mining Machines] Odaily Planet Daily News: Malaysian authorities have established an air-ground joint task force, utilizing high-tech drones and ground police to shut down nearly 14,000 illegal Bitcoin mining machines. State-owned power company Tenaga Nasional (TNB) reported that since 2020, these illegal miners have stolen $1.1 billion worth of electricity from the national grid. Authorities use drones to search for heat signatures, while ground police employ sensors to detect illegal electricity usage. Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources Transition, Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, stated that allowing such activities not only involves theft but also poses challenges to the national grid system.
