[Cayman Islands Web3 Foundation Registrations Surge by 70% Year-on-Year]
Latest data shows that the number of foundation company registrations in the Cayman Islands has increased by 70% year-on-year. By the end of 2024, the total number of registered companies has exceeded 1,300, with over 400 new registrations already recorded in 2025. Such structures are widely used as legal entities for decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) and as governance tools for large Web3 project ecosystems. According to a press release from Cayman Finance, at least 17 foundation companies registered in the Cayman Islands hold reserves exceeding $100 million globally. The growth in the number of foundations is linked to the implementation of the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF) by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The Cayman Islands has adopted this framework through regulations issued by the Tax Information Authority, which will take effect on January 1, 2026.
