MA used to hold primaries in February back in the early 2000s. The MA Legislature passed a bill in 2007 - signed by Governor Mitt Romney - moving it to align with Super Tuesday (early March). Then in 2008, they tweaked the timelines again under Deval Patrick to early September. I wonder why? 🤔 Ideally, we would have the primary system the way it was - a Republican Primary in February/March or, alternatively, no later than May. But other than moving the Republican Primary to an earlier date, we shouldn’t change it.(John E Deaton)
