Coinbase announces 2025 transparency report, with global government information requests increasing to 12716
According to Golden Finance, Coinbase has released its seventh annual transparency report, covering government and law enforcement requests for user information from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025. The report shows that the platform operates in over 100 countries worldwide and received a total of 12716 information requests throughout the year, a year-on-year increase of approximately 19%. However, the overall scale has remained in the range of 10000 to 13000 requests over the past four years.
About 53% of the requests in this issue come from outside the United States, an increase of about 2% compared to last year. The United States remains the country with the highest number of information requests, with approximately 80% of law enforcement requests coming from the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and Australia.
In terms of major country changes, France's request volume increased significantly by 111%, the UK increased by 16%, Spain increased by 27%, and Australia slightly increased by 1%; Germany decreased by 5%, Sweden decreased by 31%, and South Korea decreased by 67%. The requests from Moldova and Brazil have increased by approximately 5.7 times and 2.7 times respectively.
Coinbase emphasizes that the balance between privacy protection and compliance obligations is crucial, and the company will continue to maintain customer privacy by rigorously reviewing, reducing overly broad requests, and responding with anonymous or aggregated data as much as possible.
