**[Bitnomial to Launch the First CFTC-Regulated Spot Cryptocurrency Trading Platform]** According to Crypto In America, Bitnomial is set to become the first derivatives exchange in the United States to offer spot cryptocurrency trading. The Chicago-based company submitted a self-certification filing last month under the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Regulation 40.6(a). This regulation allows registered Designated Contract Markets (DCMs) to implement new rules after demonstrating compliance with the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA). Bitnomial's self-certified rules cover the listing of "spot" products, including retail leveraged spot trading conducted under Section 2(c)(2)(D) of the CEA, enabling customers to directly buy, sell, and finance digital assets on the exchange. According to the filing submitted on November 13, the rules officially took effect last Friday, meaning spot trading could launch in the coming days. The November filing also indicates that traders will be able to conduct non-leveraged spot trading, which constitutes a significant portion of retail trading on platforms like Coinbase and Kraken. However, since Congress is still working on market structure legislation to clarify jurisdiction over traditional spot markets, it remains uncertain whether this approach will face resistance.
