[Massive Ransomware Attack on South Korea's Financial Sector, Data from 28 Institutions Stolen] According to a report by Jinse Finance, South Korea's financial sector recently experienced a severe cybersecurity incident. The Qilin ransomware group successfully infiltrated the systems of 28 financial institutions by attacking a managed service provider (MSP), stealing over 1 million files and 2TB of data. The incident, named 'Korean Leaks' by the attackers, was carried out in three waves, primarily targeting South Korean asset management companies. Security experts suspect that the attack may be linked to North Korean hacker group Moonstone Sleet. When posting information on a data leak website, the attackers not only demanded ransom but also claimed to expose 'systemic corruption' and 'evidence of stock market manipulation,' attempting to incite panic in South Korea's financial markets.
