[JPMorgan Closes Business and Personal Bank Accounts of a ShapeShift Employee]
According to The Block, JPMorgan Chase Bank closed the business and personal bank accounts of Houston Morgan, the Head of Marketplace at the crypto platform ShapeShift, on November 21. This marks another action targeting the crypto industry following the bank's closure of the account belonging to the CEO of Bitcoin payment app Strike earlier this week.
Morgan stated that his business account was immediately frozen due to its association with the operational structure of ShapeShift DAO, leaving approximately $40,000 in funds inaccessible. The bank unilaterally terminated services under the pretext of "protecting financial institutions" without requesting additional documentation or specifying the exact violation, and it rejected his appeal. His personal account has also been notified of closure this week, though funds were successfully transferred before the freeze.
Earlier reports indicated that the Bitcoin community and Strategy supporters had called for a "boycott" of JPMorgan due to a report related to MSCI's proposed new regulations.
