Cough cough, @ 0xMiden is the fourth public chain of @ 0xPolygon. This project implements client execution and local proof generation through the "edge blockchain" architecture, using a unique hybrid account/UTXO Notes model... Let's break down the terms in this sentence one by one
1. edge computing:
Deploying blockchain nodes on edge nodes can reduce latency, improve response speed, and utilize distributed resources.
2. Client Execution&Local Proof Generation
2.1 Client execution generally refers to the transaction initiator (client) not only submitting the transaction, but also executing part of the logic locally on the client (or its device/node).
In some privacy or scalability designs, the client will calculate the proof themselves and submit it to the on chain, rather than handing over all calculations to the on chain nodes.
2.2 Local Proof Generation
This is an important supplement to "client-side execution": the client generates certain proofs locally (usually encrypted proofs, such as zero knowledge proofs, validity proofs, etc.) to prove that certain operations of the client are legal (such as that it does have sufficient balance, its constructed transactions are correct, no double spending, etc.), but the on chain nodes do not need to redo all calculations, only verify this proof.
This design can reduce on chain load, accelerate confirmation, while maintaining security. That's why miden is born with the concept of "privacy"
3. Hybrid Account/UTXO Notes Model:
This is a crucial and complex point. I will first break down the "Account Model" and "UTXO Model", and then discuss the concept of mixing and the meaning of "Notes".
3.1 Account based Model
This is the mainstream model adopted by Ethereum and other chains: each address (account) has a balance (state), and transactions involve subtracting balance from one account and adding balance to another.
3.2 UTXO Model
UTXO stands for Unspend Transaction Output. It is the account model of Bitcoin.
In this model, each transaction consumes several UTXOs (inputs) and generates new UTXOs (outputs). The balance is the sum of all unused outputs.
The advantages are strong parallelism (different UTXOs can be processed independently) and good privacy (making it easier to design hybrid/anonymous schemes); The disadvantage is weak support for smart contracts (complex state management).
3.3 Hybrid Account+UTXO Notes
'Mixed' means the advantages of using both the account model and UTXO model simultaneously. You can have both "account" type status (such as smart contract accounts) and UTXO (or "Notes") type output in a system.
Notes "here generally refers to entities similar to UTXO, but may have scripting, additional metadata, or encryption features. In some zk rollup designs (such as Polygon Miden), Account and Note (similar to UTXO) coexist, each responsible for different functions.
Therefore, miden is a hybrid L2 solution of the Bitcoin model and the Ethereum model. Born with the characteristics of lightweight nodes and privacy anonymity. Currently, it has been integrated into Polygon's one click blockchain package.
By the way, 5% of the token for this project will be airdropped to users who have recently pledged their pol. Count it as a big hair.
