Europe and Africa are good partners. We already work together closely in a variety of areas, and there are ample opportunities for strengthening and further expanding this relationship. This was at the heart of our discussion today in Angola at the summit between African Union and the European Union. And at a time of geopolitical tensions and changing power relations in the world, a good relationship may be more important than ever. Both Europe and Africa are grappling with war and violence. It is crucial for our continents to work together for our peace and security. In that spirit we spoke about the need for the EU and the AU to do everything in their power to stop the horrific atrocities in Sudan and to bring the warring parties to the negotiating table. In short, for our peace, security and well-being, cooperation between our continents is essential. That was my message at the AU-EU Summit today.(Dick Schoof)
