Projects these days have reached the point of draining the pond to catch the fish. Back then, there were plenty of retail investors in the secondary market. Whether it was participating in new launches or farming, secondary market investors would take over, so project teams still had some decency. Now, it’s completely unreasonable—selling whatever they can, at any price. $1? Sell. $0.10? Sell. Even tokens that are supposed to be locked for ethical reasons get sold. As long as no one’s watching, they sell in secret. If Binance sanctions them, they claim they’ll buy it back (because listing on Binance requires a deposit). Once no one’s paying attention, they secretly sell again. If you like farming, the project team will farm your TVL and farm your fees. If you like new launches, they’ll give you a token that crashes right after launch. Every now and then, there’s even a stablecoin rug pull. The new Alphas that come out? They milk them as fast as they can, because if they wait too long, no one will care anymore. And in this kind of environment, you still expect new people to come and play?
