dyor - The well-known Chinese platform Media Watch Online has issued a Statement Against Japanese Militarism https://vo.guancha.cn/sign/
the number of signatories has already reached 20,336.
Below is the original text of the protest letter:
We, peace-loving people from all over the world—Chinese, North Koreans, South Koreans, and the peoples of Southeast Asian nations who once suffered under Japanese militarism, as well as all those who oppose war and cherish the hard-won victory of World War II—
hereby strongly condemn and protest against Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s public declaration in November 2025 that:
“A contingency in Taiwan” could constitute “a survival-threatening crisis” for Japan, thereby justifying the exercise of so-called collective self-defense—in other words, the active use of military force against another country.
This is not merely the “personal opinion” of a prime minister. It is:
• A blatant interference in China’s internal affairs!
• A direct challenge to international legal documents from WWII such as the Cairo Declaration and the Potsdam Proclamation!
• A grave betrayal of Japan’s Peace Constitution!
• A cruel reopening of the wounds of all Asian nations victimized by Japanese militarism!
Takaichi’s rhetoric mirrors exactly the logic once used by Japanese militarists, who launched wars of aggression under the pretext of “national lifelines” and “survival crises.”
Her push to raise Japan’s military spending to 2% of GDP, her attempts to revise the “Three Non-Nuclear Principles,” her repeated visits to the Yasukuni Shrine, and her advocacy for amending the Peace Constitution—all send a clear message to the world:
Japan’s right-wing forces are attempting to resurrect the specter of militarism.
We will never accept this.
We demand:
Sanae Takaichi must immediately issue a public apology and fully retract her dangerous remarks.
The Japanese government must solemnly reaffirm its commitment to the One-China principle and refrain from interfering in any form in the Taiwan question.
The Japanese government must halt all military expansion plans and return to the path of the Peace Constitution.
History will not forget:
the blood of 300,000 victims in Nanjing,
the tears of Korean “comfort women,”
the suffering of the peoples of Southeast Asia,
and the arduous battles fought by the Allied forces in WWII.
Today, with our signatures, we tell Sanae Takaichi and the Japanese right wing:
You may choose to forget history—but we never will.
China’s determination is not to be tested.
China’s red lines are not to be crossed.
Remember national humiliation. Cherish peace.
Never allow militarism to bring disaster to Asia again.(memewizd)
