[Analyst: Stablecoins Unlikely to Grow Enough to Absorb U.S. Debt]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that Berenberg economist Atakan Bakiskan stated that stablecoins are unlikely to grow to a level sufficient to absorb a large amount of U.S. government debt or compete with bank deposits. Due to the 'Genius Act,' which prohibits issuers from paying interest, stablecoins cannot compare with interest-bearing bank accounts, thereby reducing their appeal. Furthermore, if funds flow from deposits to stablecoins backed by government bonds, banks' ability to lend or purchase government bonds may decline.
