I appreciate the support and principled joint statement by the G7 foreign ministers made in Niagara, Canada. The Group of Seven supported an immediate ceasefire, contact line as the starting point for negotiations, and inviolability of borders. The G7 will continue to increase the cost of prolonging the war for Moscow, as well as companies that help its war effort and Russian buddies such as North Korea. I appreciate the willingness to support Ukraine’s energy system amid Russia’s intensified attacks, as well as to use frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine. I am grateful to each country and its leader — Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, the USA, and the EU — for their principled stance.
