Prediction platforms showed 100% way before the live voting.
Finally, the expected outcome landed, but the market dropped back again. After the House passed the temporary spending bill, it only awaits Trump’s signature to end the shutdown. However, this government shutdown has already caused significant losses to the U.S. GDP.
What’s even more concerning is that the core issues like healthcare subsidies remain unresolved between the two parties, and the market speculates there might be another shutdown on January 30 next year.
And to make matters worse, four voting members of the Federal Reserve’s regional presidents have recently shown no active push for another rate cut in December.
Just a month ago, 91% of the market predicted a December rate cut, but now only 60% believe it will happen, showing a huge divide in market sentiment.
Good news on one side, and a massive bad news on the other.
