I’ve been calling for reform or abolishing the Accredited Investor Rule for years. You can go into a diner in the inner city and find scratch card ATMs: 2, 5, 10, even 20 scratchers. But unless you’re a millionaire (and you can’t count equity in your home - the primary asset for most people) or make 300K for a few years straight, you can’t own private equity. You can serve in the Marine Corps for 30 years, risking your life for your country, but don’t try and buy shares in Space X or OpenAI or the SEC will come knocking.(John E Deaton)
