Coinbase launches savings accounts in the UK with a 3.75% interest rate and FSCS deposit protection According to The Block, starting November 11, Coinbase will roll out savings accounts supported by Clearbank for select users in the UK. These accounts allow eligible UK users to earn daily interest on GBP savings balances at an annual rate of 3.75% (AER), with instant access, no minimum balance, and no lock-in period. The accounts are protected under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), meaning customers can be compensated up to £85,000 (approximately $112,000) for their GBP balances in case the service provider goes bankrupt, matching the standards of traditional UK banks. Notably, the 3.75% interest rate is higher than most mainstream banks but lower than some top fintech savings rates. Coinbase plans to gradually make these accounts available to all UK users in the coming weeks. As the largest international market for Coinbase and a key focus for global expansion, the launch of savings accounts follows its registration as an FCA Virtual Asset Service Provider earlier this year in February.
