If you’ve never called your Senator before, NOW is the time. Senators weigh phone calls more heavily than ANY other complaint method, and it’s an easy 2 min call that impacts democracy. Here is how easy it is: 1. Call the Capitol switchboard ((202) 224-3121) and get routed to your Senators office, or look up their office number on the attach screenshots. 2. You’ll either leave a message or have the call answered by an aide, you can say: “I’m a constituent calling to express my strong stance *against* Dems voting for the funding deal” If you feel strongly you can even add: “This is a make or break issue for me, and if Senator [name] supports it, I’ll be looking to support challenges in a primary.” Write out what you want to say before hand if you feel nervous. 3. If you’re speaking with an aide, they may ask for your ZIP code as they use it to track reports by area, your information is anonymous and private. After that, you’re all done. If leaving a message hang up the phone. If talking to an aide, simply thank them for taking the message.
