Transparency is essential to good governance, especially in times of national recovery. There can be no victory for any political side if some communities receive assistance while others are left behind. Our goal is fairness; every Jamaican, regardless of affiliation, must benefit from the support being provided. To ensure this, the Government will establish a Joint Select Committee of Parliament to oversee the distribution of relief resources and spending. This committee will strengthen public confidence by ensuring that all aid and government expenditure are managed openly, fairly, and accountably. We want every citizen to see that what is given, and what is spent, is done transparently and for the benefit of all Jamaicans.(Andrew Holness)
